Smart Living · Fenetex Retractable Screens

Bugs, heat, and rain keep winning.

Not anymore.

One button. Your outdoor space goes from exposed to fully protected — from insects, sun, and weather — in seconds. And when the evening is perfect, the screens disappear completely. That's not a compromise. That's control.

The honest problem

Your outdoor space is there every evening. Florida makes sure you can't use it.

The mosquitoes arrive at dusk — exactly when the temperature drops and the evening becomes worth being outside for. The no-see-ums follow. On a Gulf or Sound-adjacent property, they own the hours from sunset to midnight from April through October. You've tried citronella. You've tried fans. You've accepted that the porch furniture is decorative.

Then there's the sun. Ninety-degree afternoons that make the uncovered patio unusable by 10am. The UV that bleaches outdoor furniture in a single season. And the afternoon storms that roll in without warning and chase you inside just when you'd settled in.

A fixed screen solves the bug problem and creates a new one — you're always enclosed, even when the weather is perfect and the Gulf breeze is everything you moved here for. A retractable screen gives you both. Protected when you need it. Invisible when you don't.

Northwest Florida's Pool Enclosure & Screen Room Builder. 30 Years on This Coast.

Every structure we build in The Emerald Coast is custom-engineered to your property's wind zone — stamped, permitted, and installed by the same crew who designed it.

Three screen types. One right answer for your space.

What problem are you trying to solve?

Every Fenetex retractable screen we install is motorized, HVHZ-rated, and engineered to disappear completely when retracted. What changes is the fabric — and the fabric determines what you're solving for.

Bug Protection

Insect Screen

Standard fiberglass insect mesh that blocks mosquitoes, no-see-ums, and all flying insects while allowing full airflow and natural light. The right choice when bugs are the primary pain and you want to preserve the open feel of the space.

Blocks all flying insects including no-see-ums

Full natural airflow maintained

Near-invisible when deployed

Most popular fabric for Panhandle evenings

Sun & Heat Control

Solar Screen

Woven solar fabric that blocks UV radiation and reduces heat transmission by up to 90% while maintaining outward visibility. The right choice when afternoon sun makes the space unusable — you keep the view and lose the heat.

Blocks up to 90% of UV and solar heat

Outward visibility preserved — no blackout effect

Reduces glare on TV and screen surfaces

Works with or without insect protection combo

Weather & Wind Protection

Clear Vinyl Screen

Crystal-clear PVC vinyl panels that create a fully enclosed weather barrier — rain, wind, and cold kept out while maintaining a completely unobstructed view. The right choice for three-season enclosures and properties where the view is the point.

Full weather barrier — rain, wind, and cold

Crystal-clear — zero visual obstruction

Extends usable season into winter months

Popular on waterfront & Gulf-front properties

Fabric types can be combined.

Insect screen on three sides, solar fabric on the sun-facing exposure. Clear vinyl for winter, insect screen swapped in for summer. We specify the right combination for your property during the on-site estimate.

The moment it pays for itself

The no-see-ums arrive at 7pm. Your guests don't notice.

The screen deploys in four seconds. Everything that was making the evening impossible — the mosquitoes, the gnats, the airborne reason you'd normally move inside — stays outside. The breeze comes through. The view is unchanged. The conversation continues. One button changed the evening. That happens every evening you use it.

From unusable to livable

It's 95°F outside. It's 75°F under the solar screen.

Solar fabric blocks up to 90% of the heat transmission that makes West-facing patios unusable from May through September. You keep the view — the Gulf, the pool, the yard — and lose the heat. Lunch outside in August isn't a conversation anymore. It's just what you do.

Rain doesn't cancel the morning

The rain comes in. You stay dry and keep the view.

Clear vinyl panels create a fully enclosed weather barrier with zero visual obstruction. The Gulf is still there. The palms are still swaying. The rain drums on the roof. You're dry, watching all of it from your chair with a coffee. Your outdoor space is a room now — not a porch you retreat from.

What's at risk

Cheap motorized screens aren't rated for what hits this coast.

Big-box motorized screens are designed for suburban patios in moderate climates. The Florida Panhandle is not a moderate climate. High Velocity Hurricane Zones require screens that are structurally engineered and rated for the actual wind loads — not screens that look adequate on a product sheet and fail in the first serious gust of the season.

Zippers snag. Cables stretch. Track systems that weren't designed for heat and humidity expansion shift and jam within a season. We've seen all of it. Fenetex is the only motorized retractable screen system we install because it's the only system rated for what this coast actually delivers — 150 MPH+ winds, salt-air exposure, and daily summer heat cycles that test every mechanical component.

When the next storm comes through, the screen either holds or it doesn't. We install the one that holds.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Real answers, no run-around.

What's the difference between insect, solar, and clear vinyl screens?

Insect screen uses standard fiberglass mesh to block all flying insects while maintaining full airflow and natural light — best for bug protection without heat or weather concerns. Solar screen uses a woven fabric that blocks up to 90% of UV and solar heat while maintaining outward visibility — best for afternoon sun exposure on west-facing spaces. Clear vinyl uses crystal-clear PVC panels that create a full weather barrier against rain, wind, and cold with zero visual obstruction — best for three-season enclosures and properties where the view is the primary feature. Fabrics can be combined across different screen positions in the same installation.

What wind rating do Fenetex screens carry?

Fenetex screens are Florida Building Commission approved for High Velocity Hurricane Zones — rated for 150 MPH+ sustained winds. This is the rating required for structures in the most demanding coastal zones in Florida, including Okaloosa, Walton, and Santa Rosa counties on the Panhandle. They also carry a certified FR fire rating. No other motorized retractable screen system we've evaluated carries both approvals.

How large an opening can a retractable screen cover?

A single Fenetex screen covers openings up to garage-door scale — typically 16–18 feet wide depending on fabric and motor configuration. Larger openings are covered with multiple screens sharing a center post, with minimal visible seam when deployed. We measure your specific opening during the on-site estimate and confirm exactly what's achievable before you commit to anything.

Can retractable screens integrate with a smart-home system?

Yes. Fenetex screens support remote control, wall switch, and smart-home integration through compatible home automation platforms. We configure the remote programming during installation and can set up automation triggers — screens deploy at sunset, retract at sunrise, deploy automatically if wind sensors detect a threshold, and so on. We confirm smart-home compatibility during the estimate based on your existing system.

What warranty comes with a Fenetex retractable screen?

Fenetex offers a lifetime warranty on the screen fabric and a manufacturer's warranty on motor and housing components. Specific terms vary by fabric and motor configuration selected. We walk through warranty documentation during the estimate and hand it off in writing at installation completion. The lifetime fabric warranty covers manufacturing defects, UV degradation, and the edge-seal system.

How much does a Fenetex retractable screen cost?

Fenetex retractable screens typically range from $2,500 to $6,500 per screen depending on opening width, fabric type, and motor configuration. Multi-screen installations and pergola integrations are priced as complete projects during the on-site estimate. We give you a straight itemized quote — no hidden fees, no showroom markup. The estimate is free and there's no obligation.
